How To Load Vst Plugin Reaper

25.12.2020

Load the VST plugin in FL Studio 20. Finally, you need to load the plugin in FL Studio to actually begin using it in your tracks. Navigate back up to the “Add” section of the menu bar. Within the drop-down list of plugins, you should now see your chosen plugin. Simply click your plugin, and it will load into the FL Studio interface. I just pulled down the ACE VST and installed it into Reaper. It came in perfectly. I did put it in the Reaper Plugins folder. By default it wanted to go to CommonFiles/Plugins. I pulled up Reaper, added the subdirectory, and hit rescan and it was there. There shouldn't be any reason why it won't load into Reaper. REAPER will load the selected plugin into the FX chain. Close the FX window. Right-click on the Record button and select a MIDI input (MIDI devices are set in 'Preferences Audio MIDI'). Record-arm the track by clicking on the Record button. REAPER user Khatcha send me an email today with a tip to help those on Windows that found some of their VST plugins were tiny after the REAPER 6.0 upgrade. I’d like to give a useful tip concerning the version 6.xx on Windows only and it’s about the issue with plugins scaling on 4K monitors (or probably less). Click 'Insert' in the top menu bar, then click 'Insert Virtual Instrument on New Track.' Click 'VST' in the left-hand column, then click on the new VST. Click 'OK' to add it to a new track in Reaper.

It’s good practice to organise your plugins – well it is for me.

You can always filter and search for a plugin, but sometimes the amount of plugins you have can mean that you overlook certain plugins that are within your arsenal.

Here is a simple guide on how to load and start using the ERA Bundle audio effect plug-ins in REAPER: Step 1: Verify that the plug-ins are installed in the correct locations Mac AU /Library/Au.

So let’s get organised.

First you’ll need Reaper up and running.

Next add a track and click on the ‘FX’ button.

Click ‘Add’

This will open up the Reaper FX browser.

Scroll down to ‘My Folders’.

Using the right click on your mouse you can create your own folder.

As you can see I already have some folders created.

Let’s create a new one.

The new folder will now be ready for plugins.

You can also organise these folders by moving them up and down, to the top or to the bottom.

Once you have your new folder you can start to add your plugins.

You can search for plugins either by the browser or if you know it’s name or a search word then you can use the filter feature.

Before we start we need to move out of ‘My Folders’ to the top of the folder list to ‘All Plugins’

Underneath you can see there are plugins for VST, VSTi, AU, AUI, Js etc.

If you know specifically the type of plugin then you could probably go into the that folder.

As you can see from the screen shot, in the ‘Filter List’ I have typed ‘had’ and this has brought up all my UAD plugins.

I’m looking for a specific plugin called the CS-1.

Use the right click on your mouse, this will bring up and option to ‘Add to’ and then you have a choice of your plugin folders.

As this particular plugin is a chorus effect I’m going to add it to my newly created, ‘Modulation’ folder.

Once done we can check that it has moved over successfully. Go to the ‘Modulation folder.

Hopefully all being we’ll you should now see the plugin in that folder.

Ah, did you see, I forgot to clear my ‘filter list’ – not that it matters but hey t’s something that you need to be careful of.

You cannot make sub folders – which is a shame but not the end of the world.

And there it is. Cinematic orchestra vst free.

Step 1.1 Download the Virtual Instrument (VSTi)

How To Load Vst Plugin Reaper Download

From this page download the BassMidi VSTi 1.2 zipfile.

Step 1.2 Unzip that file to your VST plugin directory

Two Common directories for VST plugins:

  • C:Program Files (x86)SteinbergVstPlugins
  • C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesVST3

If either of these folders exist or if you have admin privileges on your computer you can unzip the contents of the zipfile to one of the above folders. Since I’m working on a computer with no admin rights I had to make a portable install of Reaper in this folder C:REAPER so I navigated to C:REAPERUserPlugins and made a folder called VST.

Step 1.3 Make sure Reaper knows where your VST has been unzipped to

  1. In REAPER, press [Ctrl] + P (Windows) / [Cmd] + [,] (Mac) to access Preferences.
  2. Go to Plug-ins > VST.
  3. Under “VST Plugin Path,” make sure that the path where you placed your plugins is listed (if not, add it)… see the screenshot for how I added C:REAPERUserPluginsVST after the other two default folders.
  4. Click on Re-Scan and your instrument should be available within Reaper.

Step 2.1 Time to download a Soundfont to open within the VSTi we just installed

A free GM/GS soundfont has been shared here Reality_GMGS_falcomod.sf2 (version 1.2)
Thanks to Falcosoft for sharing the soundfont on this page

Step 2.3 Unzip the Soundfont to a folder / directory where you will store your soundfonts

You might choose to make a folder called “Soundfonts” in a location where you keep your loops and other audio resources… perhaps within the Reaper folder or another area on your computer where you keep things organised.

Step 3.1 Time to try inserting a Virtual Instrument into Reaper using the VSTi and Soundfont we just downloaded.

Note: If Step 1.3 went smoothly and you Re-Scanned the VST folder Reaper should be able to find the new plugin… If not, try re-scanning or perhaps try restarting Reaper. If that fails you will need to check that the directory to where you extracted the VST files is included in the VST plugin folders that Reaper looks in (as per the screenshot in 1.3). If that fails you might need to ask me for some help 🙂
